Sum some up

I made this darling matching owl for my cousin's baby.

Derek wanted a puffy quilt, but not tied...my solution worked great!

The border for this frame was made from my oldest brother's shorts. He passed away 18 years ago and my sister has held onto his shorts. Now she can snuggle in them.

Evan

Evan is a special little man. He was born May 2010. I haven't met him, but he has extraordinary parents and I'm sure he is fantastic too. His mom was in the Navy just before I met her and his dad is in the Navy. I  love anyone who so selflessly serves our country. I wanted to make him a quilt that hinted at his parents careers without using Old Glory Red, White, and Old Glory Blue

Sadly, I only have a picture of the back, but I love the blue and red!

Learning curve

This was my first go at totally free-motion quilting. What fun! I don't know how well the details show up, but it was a wild adventure. Each block was around 5x5. Within each block I quilted a pattern that reminded me of the print within the white. 

This was for Kimball. He was born Feb of 2010. His room has brown and shades of blue polk-a-dots. One pronounced color in his room is teal. I tried to put enough of it in his blanket to compliment his room without screaming matchy-matchy. 

You can't tell, but I have four patterns and solids making up the white. The white was randomly pieced. It resulted in excessive sewing, ironing, measuring, resewing, ironing, trimming, etc. 

It was too much fun.

For sweet Lucy!

I decided to follow a tutorial for this baby-quilt, I made it in Oct 2009. I wish I could give credit to the creator, by name. I imagine she (or he) is fun and I would love her entire blog...assuming she has a blog.

I love the result. I loved seeing sweet baby Lucy snuggled in it too. Is there anything more fulfilling to see a baby snuggled into something that you made? Nope, I don't think so.

The First Quilt

I started quilting in the fall of 2009. I fell in-love. My first project was this beauty. 

I don't know what I was thinking. I used minky in my first quilt. Wow, I had no idea what I was doing and what I would be in-for. I learned a lot and love the result. 

My sweet niece was born in October 2009 and was able to snuggle into this precious blanket.

Car-Seat-Canopy

I'm working on getting this blog up and running. In the mean-time, here's a picture of my youngest monkey.Did you think I meant a person? That's silly. It's my latest creation, given to my wonderful friend, Heather, who is expecting her first child in the next week! Yeah for beautiful babies!

Normally you would want to put the canopy on the car seat by attaching the velcro straps to the handle. But when you forget to take a picture and took your gift back from the expecting mother to photograph it well, you do what you have to do.
